Long Term Care: Northwest Farmer-Stockman offers a wide range of Long Term Care, Home Health Care, Short Term Care and Assisted Living products.
Long Term Care: Long-term care is the assistance you will
need for an extended period of time if you develop a chronic illness, disability or
cognitive impairment, such as Alzheimer's disease. The extended care might be delivered in the comfort of your own home, a nursing facility, or a community based setting. The chances of needing long-term care are greater than 50%. Long-term care isn't an exclusive issue for Seniors; more than 40% of Americans receiving long-term care are under age 65. Younger people need long-term care for recovery/rehabilitation from auto accidents, illness such as muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, Lou Gehrig's disease, etc. One-third of the 700,000 stoke victims in this country are under age 65.
Home Health Care: Home health care is the preferred plan of care for almost everyone. It also is one answer to today's shorter hospital stays that often find patients definitely in need of follow-up care.
Assisted Living: Assisted living provides relatively independent Seniors
with supervision, assistance, and limited health care services in a home-like atmosphere. Assisted living services include 24-hour protective oversight, food, shelter, and a range of services that promote the quality of life of the individual. Assisted living is a wonderful alternative to nursing home care. People who do not require 24-hour care but do need some assistance are able to live in an individual unit or apartment in an assisted living facility.
The facility provides them with an independent lifestyle where help, as needed, is available.
Short Term Care: If you become sick or injured you may require recuperative care in a short-term convalescent care or assisted iving facility. In most cases, such a stay is considered custodial or long term care and doesn not qualify for Medicare, HMOs or health insurance. If covered, Medicare only provides full reimbursement for the first 20 days of care, and its coverage is limited to 100 days per benefit period. Medicare does not cover skilled nursing care unless that care is proceeded by a hospital stay of at least three days. The short-term care plan Northwest Farmer-Stockman provides through Medico Life and Continental General Insurance Copmany requires no qualifying hospital stay and covers short-term convalescent or assisted living facility stays of up to 180 or 360 days, depending on the plan you choose.
